We rolled out our Academy as part of onboarding in platform. Going from dozens to thousands of folks completing learning paths has been fun to watch after building it for the past year.
At my community’s side, our tenth crowdfunded, community-tested, and otherwise fabulous book for math circle leaders is finally out, after a longish pandemic delay. Yay!
Thank you for asking! Five Fabulous Activities for Your Math Circle is a guidebook for teachers, parents, and math circle leaders. A math circle is any group of people gathering to explore mathematics. More here: https://naturalmath.com/five-fabulous-activities/
Meeting open source WordPress contributors in-person during WordCamp Asia. Additionally, I onboarded new staff members to how our Field Marketing/DevRel/Community/Events team handles these events. Our staff embraced how unique the WordPress events community is, in that we do not do direct sales but focus on building relationships at these events. They stepped fully into that, connecting with attendees, other vendors, and organizers alike. This was a huge win.
Absolutely killed it with my upcoming community conference, almost 2x’d our registration goal, recruited all the speakers, brought in lots of diversity, paid people for their time, tried new approaches to market, killed the big SPIFFs internally and got our super users involved more — and we still have a less than a month before the event.
Community-related: did a couple of devrel public speaking engagements. A round table and a talk. The talk was about the principles of marketing and how you can apply them to improve your devrel strategy.
Not community-related: successfully managed a negotiation which I don’t think a lot of people would have attempted, LOL!
It’s been a transitional month for me, after phasing out of a HUGE role and 11 years at an organisation. The first four weeks of my career break have been quiet, intentionally so. I felt like my brain needed to unlearn my old routine
So I thought I’d start small. Launch a LinkedIn page and make more time for content. Create a new blog post, share short insights on social media, check in more with others asynchronously and with catch up coffees.
I reached 100 followers on LinkedIn in a few days, and completed a short piece of paid work via a contact. Positive signs that I’m bringing value to my niche!
I arrived in the US for my latest work-n-travel stint Starting in Lake Geneva, in the south of Wisconsin; the neighbourhood is friendly and the sunsets here are stunning (there’s currently one happening behind me as I type this).
I’ve also been putting together my first paid programme since I re-branded my writing business. I’m launching it this weekend!
I love reading everyone’s thoughts here I moved to a new home (like my dream home!) in February and got up to speed with a new client load. It was a full month and I’m feeling very grateful!
