Re: Open-Source Science (OSSci) meetup, Feb 16 at UCSC (+ remote)

Hi,

I recently joined IBM Research as the Community Lead for Open-Source Science (OSSci), a new NumFOCUS initiative (in partnership with IBM) that aims to accelerate scientific research and discovery through the improved adoption, development, sustainability, etc., of open source across science.

Maybe of interest to some here? We’re eager to connect with our neighbors in the ecosystem around the world (open science, open source, Python, OSPOs, etc.). If you know people or organizations we should talk to, please send them our way or feel free to make an introduction: tim at opensource dot science

We’ll be hosting our first meetup this Thursday, February 16, 5–7.30pm Pacific Time at UC Santa Cruz (+ remote via Zoom). Details and RSVP: OSSci Meetup: Increasing Research Impact Through Open Source and Open Data

For those who can’t make it, the recording and summary of key insights will be posted to the Open-Source Science Medium within a few days.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!
