Community Failings

I recently watched Experimentation is Innovation by MaryBlessing Okolie at the Community Managers Unconference. And it made we wonder; in trying new things for your community what failed spectacularly? And what did you learn from it?

I’ve always invested and experimented in increments to avoid “spectacular failures”. It’s not that things didn’t fail, it’s more that certain things didn’t go according to plan.

One thing I do regret, more recently, is switching tools too quickly. But then sometimes I don’t. I keep getting frustrated with tools not doing or being enough, when I should probably just make do with what I have and focus on other things that will move the needle quicker.

I think I would be the type of person to also implement things in increments! It feels a bit safer, and like you could back track easier. However, I wonder if I would miss out on many opportunities for taking the cautious route!
