Automations to avoid members receiving too many emails

I have a community of ~4,000 members. They are receiving event updates, networking emails, useful resources, and internal team-building info.

My biggest concern is balancing community engagement with too much communication.

I’m curious, what have been the best automation/workflows/triggers you’ve set up to help manage multiple departments managing the same group?

For reference, I’m using Verint for community management and Hubspot for email

One thing I’ve pretty much always done is have a weekly community newsletter that rounds up everything that is going on. I’d personally go nuts if I received more emails than necessary. I don’t have an automated way of doing this as sources of information can come from so many different avenues.

FWIW, Richard Millington suggests getting rid of almost all automated emails.
